In keeping with that theme, the city's newest gay club will open on New Year's weekend and is being touted as the largest gay club in the world. Plans are in the works to launch fireworks from the wheel and the center of the wheel will feature a countdown clock that will be visible along the Strip. In a couple of years, the icon for Las Vegas on New Year's Eve will be a giant Ferris wheel, which is now taking shape on the south end of the Strip, across from the Mandalay Bay Hotel/Casino. For the big night, Las Vegas Boulevard is shut down and everyone from the casinos pours into the streets to watch the fireworks.     New Year's Eve gets bigger and better every year along the famed Las Vegas Strip.
